Growing up, Amelia was what you would think of when you hear the term โ€œpicture perfect familyโ€. Her father, Steven Mitchell, was head of the police department, and her mother, Carly Mitchell, was a well respected nurse. Steven and Carly had been high school sweethearts, the golden couple, so it was no surprise when one chilly October day, Carly gave birth to Amelia. The Mitchell household was the epitome of happiness. Friends and neighbors all loved them. They were regulars at their local church. On the outside, they were everything one could want for a family. Of course, everything is never as it seems. While maintaining the persona of a loving husband, father, and man of the community, behind closed doors he was everything but. He had an alcohol problem. And when he would get drunk, heโ€™d get violent. Carly and Amelia were always his victims.โ€ข Teen Years:
Carly had tried multiple times to leave Steven and report him to the police. However Steven being a highly decorated police officer, had convinced the entire force that his estranged wife was crazy. Telling everyone she had fallen into addiction, talking about how he had planned to take Amelia and leave. The final straw had been when he had slapped Amelia so hard sheโ€™d ended up in the emergency room. Carly waited until later in the night when Steven was fast asleep and enacted her plan. Her and Amelia had packed what they could in their respective bags, and left, going to Carlyโ€™s sister, Susanโ€™s house. Susan welcomed them with open arms.
They stayed there for a couple of months until Carly had saved up enough money for an apartment. Before too long, Steven found out and was enraged. Through some friends on the force he was able to get their new address. He drunkenly showed up one day while Amelia was hanging out with her then boyfriend, Adrian, and begged Carly to take him back. He made empty promises of how heโ€™d changed, he was a better man, etc. Carly rejected him and threatened to call the police if he didnโ€™t leave. Not being able to handle being turned down, Steven pulled out his gun and shot Carly in the back of the head, killing her instantly. He then turned the gun on himself.Amelia was none the wiser. After spending the day with Adrian, he had decided to walk Lia home. The sight that awaited the two kids was one that would forever be burned into Ameliaโ€™s memory. Both her parents were dead on the living room floor. Adrian did his best to console Amelia while calling 911. After things had begun to calm down some, Liaโ€™s aunt Susan was called, and granted guardianship of Amelia, since she was the young girls only living family left.Amelia lived with her aunt until she turned 18. By the time graduation had rolled around she was ready to get out of her hometown and start fresh. She is now an agent with the FBIs behavioral analysis unit, and happily married to Luke Alvez. They have two children together.
